I get claustrophobic – can I still have CT scans done?
People often confuse CT scans and MRI scans. A modern CT scan is carried out via an open-ended “doughnut” unit which passes over the body and isn’t in the least bit scary. An MRI scanner is a tunnel, about 1.5 metres long into which the couch slides and yes, it can make people nervous.
When we give private MRI scans we are in communication with the patient the whole time, and play soothing music to put them at their ease. The scan can be stopped at any time and the couch withdrawn.
Of course, you can ask for the MRI scan to be omitted from the screening, which will also help keep costs down. We offer everything from whole body screening to single area scans.
