Dr Jennifer Lenhart works as an Associate Specialist Homeopathic Physician at the Royal London Homoepathic Hospital, UCLH NHS Trust. She studied medicine at St Andrews University in Scotland, where she obtained a BA in medical science with honours, and then at the University of Manchester, where she obtained her MBChB in 1996. She trained in hospital paediatric medicine for seven years, spending several years working in the neonatal intensive care and special care baby units. After many years of interest in complementary medicine, she started studying Homeopathy in 2001, and obtained her membership of the Faculty of Homeopathy qualifications in 2003. She has been working full time at the Royal London Homoepathic Hospital since then. Dr Lenhart obtained a Masters Degree with distinction in Infant Mental Health, having trained at the Tavistock&Portmann NHS Clinic in affilliation with the University of East London.
Dr Lenhart specialises in homeopathic paediatric medicine. She treats children of all ages. Holistic homeopathic medicine is particularly suited for chronic conditions such as eczema, asthma, allergies, glue ear, repeated infections etc all of which form a large part of her practice. She also has a special interest in the emotional development of children , including sleeping disturbances, feeding difficulties and behavioural concerns, and combines the infant mental health training with homeopathy in her practice. She has set up and runs an integrated antenatal clinic at RLHH, focusing on the use of safe complementary medicines in pregnancy related problems, as well as an integrated feeding clinc at UCLH with the neonatology team, for infants with feeding difficulties. She also consults at Great Ormond Street Childrens' Hospital and UCLH paediatric intensive care units on parental request for the use of of safe complementary medicine alongside allopathic treatment protocols.
She is passionate about holistic medicine, and particularly concerned to ensure that complementary treatments are used safely and appropriately alongside conventional treatments in children and pregnancy, and uses her training in allopathic paediatric medicine, homeopathy and infant mental health to treat a wide variety of patients.
She teaches nationally and internationally on the role of complementary treatments and integrated medicine in paediatrics and antenatal care and is involved in various regional, national and international organisations.
Dr Lenhart is Canadian born and raised in Germany. She has been living in the UK for 20 years. She is bilingual in English and German. She holds a full license with the General Medical Council and is BUPA, AXA and PPP accredited.
