HIV Testing: from £110

We can now offer instant HIV Test results using INSTi (TM) Technology. Results are available in person, in 1 minute.

Our standard DUO HIV Test results are available within 4 hours by phone, or in person. This includes the P24 Antigen and HIV 1 and 2 Antibodies. We can test 28 days after contact with a very high degree of accuracy.

We can also carry out the Multiplex test at 10 days after contact for HIV, hepatitis B and C.  Results are usually within 5 working days.

We carry out HIV Tests for visa purposes, including visas for Russia and the Middle East.

We can also discuss other issues such as Post Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) and how to deal with being HIV positive. samedaydoctor^TM is happy to offer a fully comprehensive service to all our patients including pre and post testing support. Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is the virus which may eventually progress and lead to a diagnosis of AIDS.

STD Testing

There is no need to do swab tests. Men and women may have STD Tests done on urine samples if they prefer. The Umbrella Test is an urban myth which does not exist (Bradbeer et al; BMJ 2006; 333: 1287-1288).

Our testing is fully confidential and real names do not have to be given. You do not have to give your address or phone number and we do not contact your GP unless you request us to do so. The tests and their results do not go on to any central medical record.

We can prescribe antibiotics at the first visit for patients with symptoms or those in high risk situations, but we would also send away samples for testing.

We have male and female Doctors. A chaperone can always be made available.

The Full Sexual Health Screen: £295, includes:

• Blood Test for HIV, HIV 1 and 2 Antibodies, P24 Antigen, Hepatitis B Antigen and Syphilis
• Urine Tests for STI/STD, Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea, NSU, and urine infections (do not pass urine for 2 hours before appointment)
• Vaginal swabs in women will also detect Trichomonas, thrush (candida) and Bacterial Vaginosis (BV)
• Anal, rectal or oral swabs may be carried out at a small extra cost when indicated

Additional tests such as Herpes Testing needs to be discussed with the Doctor or Nurse. We also have a special profile for men who have sex with men.

Premier Sexual Screening: £495

In some situations it may be appropriate to offer the Premier Sexual Screening service. This includes the Full Sexual Health Screen as detailed above, plus:

• HPV Swab for 20 Subtypes of Virus
• Herpes Blood Test for HSV 1 and 2 Antibodies
• Swab or Urine Test for Mycoplasma Genitalium, Trichomonas Vaginalis and ureaplasma
  

New Vaccines

We have the new Gardasil and Cervarix HPV Vaccines against Cervical Cancer and Genital Warts.

We can now test men and women for 20 different subtypes of HPV (Human Papilloma Virus) including high risk cancer-causing subtypes. The test uses DNA techniques.

Our specialists can provide advice on how to minimise the risk of cervical cancer through regular testing, treatment, referral for colposcopy and vaccination.

We can treat Genital Warts in men and women with cryotherapy (freezing) and also prescribe additional treatments.

Herpes Testing

We can swab lesions for Herpes Virus (HSV) and also do blood tests, both can distinguish between HSV 1 and HSV 2. We give advice on infectivity and prescribe medication which may lead to long term suppression of the virus.

Well Man and Well Woman Screening

Cervical smears, contraception and well woman screening are available. We also offer men well man screening and prostate checks as well as advice on Erectile Dysfunction (ED) and impotence. We can screen men and women for subtypes of HPV (Human Papilloma Virus), and give advice on pregnancy management and fertility/infertility problems. We carry out semen analysis for men to determine their fertility. DNA screening and pre-pregnancy gene testing is also available for diseases such as cystic fibrosis.

At a cost of £295, this includes tests for HIV, Hepatitis B and Syphilis, STI/STD, Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea and Candida (thrush), NSU (Non-specific Urethritis), bacterial Vaginosis, and Trichomonas. As well as urethral and vaginal screens (we recommend men do not pass urine for 2 hours before the appointment), we have a special profile for gay men.

In some circumstances we carry out more in-depth tests with our Premier Sexual Screening programme. This costs £495 and includes - in addition to the tests above - HPV Swab for 20 Subtypes of virus, Herpes blood test for HSV 1 and 2 antibodies, tests for Trichomonas, Ureaplasma, Mycoplasma Genitalis.
